Just a follow-up link to yesterday’s post concerning suppressed anger. As mentioned then, passive aggressive behavior is often the result of not effectively dealing with angry feelings in a healthy manner.
Passive anger is characterized by behaviours such as Silent treatment, Workplace gossip, Subtle put downs, through use of humour, Engaging in negative coping strategies (e.g., alcohol), Obsessive behaviour, Self-blame, Self-sacrifice, Ineffectualness…to name a few.
Most of the time anger is not the problem: it is the way we express it.
