I just subscribed to your web-blog this evening because I am doing research for one of my graduate courses in Professional School Counseling. I am also a high school teacher and for a very long time been interested in using Prezi as a means of communicating effectively with my students. I tried to purchase it once online from Prezi's site, received no response, no confirmation, or even found a place to email or a phone number to call. Is the effectiveness of the Prezi system worth me going to great links to find information on? Do you have any suggestions on how to purchase it? I had no luck with the main website.

I love the response you have choosen to give to students that are concerned about going to school. Although I never thought about it, it would be a discredit and dishonor to the teachers in Conneticut to say that "we" will protect our students implying they did not do their best.

I work with 7th and 8th graders and I also present in large groups of 60-80 students. I find it is still possible to have students present out in their smaller groups to the large group through role play or skits. We also used Second Step but enrich the curriculum with other materials including You Tube videos. The students seem more engaged. We also have integrated technology where students can post comments on I-pods so that all views can be heard.

How'd it go? The Prezi and video went great. And the kids did a good job with their group work. We had a glitch with the microphone, so I was pretty hoarse by the end of the time. Also, we hit the 9:30 time limit pretty quickly, so I didn't get to all the material. I will incorporate that into next week's lesson and plan accordingly. All in all, it was pretty successful, and we'll tweak it as we go along.

It is a HUGE issue - just check out the outpouring of support to an older bus monitor in NY getting verbally abused by middle school students. http://igg.me/p/124322?a=731389 People have donated over half a million dollars to help her out. We have to help students understand the implications of bullying (student or adult) and that it is harmful. Thanks for the write up!

Hi Rick and Julie,

Here's some info about how we dealt with the death of staff members at our school. Sorry for the delay. All these years later, the grief is still present, and it took a little while for me to decide to actually sit down and write about those times. I hope it's helpful, but I also hope you never have to use it.

I think that is why people hate giviving power point presentations and they loathe attending them... the presenter is just reading information. It is the rare presenter who can use PPT for its intended purpose... a framework for bulletpoints, nifty graphics and playing with all the sweeps.
